"Because Freedom Can't Protect Itself"

I made these signs for the March 28th "No Kings" event. It was encouraging to see-- among other generations-- my fellow GenX-ers standing up for what Schoolhouse Rock had taught us so well between our Saturday morning cartoons.

We learned that we decided in 1776, as a country, that we wanted a president who cared about and represented the people, not a monarch who oppressed and ruled over them. We've been king-free since 1776, and I think most of us would like to keep it that way.

From the Schoolhouse Rock "No More Kings" Lyrics:

...We're gonna elect a president! (No more kings)

He's gonna do what the people want! (No more kings)

We're gonna run things our way! (No more kings)

Nobody's gonna tell us what to do!

Rockin' and a-rollin', splishin' and a-splashin',

Over the horizon, what can it be?

Looks like it's going to be a free country
